JAM BANDS
Ages 12 - 19
$180/month
Jam Bands builds on basic musical skills for youth with some proficiency on their instrument. Students meet weekly for approximately 12 weeks, rotating through bands and working with different musicians and professional coaches. Focused on rock, pop, and metal, the program helps students bring their playing out of the practice room and onto the stage. Midway through the session, students record 2–3 songs in a professional studio and take home both audio and video recordings. The program culminates in a public concert, professionally produced in a high-quality venue with lights, sound, and fog machines.
Co-enrollment in private lessons is required to support individual growth and help students meet the demands of the program. Students may study with AMP instructors or with outside private teachers.
-
The students in our Jam Bands program meet together over the course of approximately 13 weeks. They are cast into multiple bands allowing them to work with a variety of other students. With the help of professional musician coaches, songs are assigned to help with their musical growth throughout the course. They focus on developing stage presence, group dynamics, and emotional investment in the music.
Mid-way through the program, the students participate in a recording session at a world-class studio. The program culminates with a large-scale public concert, complete with full sound, lights, and production.
-
This program is designed to augment and amplify the experience of individual instruction, but cannot replace the indivual attention to skill-buidling that would be provided by a private teacher. Because of this, students need to have private lessons, whether through AMP or with a private teacher. What this program provides is valuable insight in the skills needed to play with other musicians, and essential motivation to power the process of personal practice.
-
While various skill levels are welcomed, students should have at minimum a beginning facility on their instrument, and know how to learn songs. We recommend that brand-new players start with private lessons and join the program when they have a handful of songs under their fingers. Students must have their own instrument throughout the program to practice on (AMP can provide loaner instruments, where needed.)
-
We recommend that younger students begin with our Jam Bands Jr. program, where we move at a slower and less intense pace. However, if you have a younger student with advanced skill, please contact us directly to set up an audition for Jam Bands. We will help you which program will be the most successful fit.
Please note: We have a set minimum number of registered students we will need to make the program feasible. In the event that not enough students register , we will refund any registration fees and cancel the session.
*All stated fees include a service fee for credit/debit card transactions. This fee is waived when tuition is paid via ACH direct bank transfer. See registration page for details.
