AMPCAMP is an immersive, high-energy summer day camp for young musicians. Each 5-day camp includes band rehearsals, workshops, and guest artist sessions—some organized by instrument or skill level. Students rotate through four bands daily, learning and performing rock, pop, and metal songs in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.
The camp culminates in a large-scale public showcase concert on the final evening, complete with professional-level lights, sound, and production. Students and parents alike are consistently amazed by what campers can accomplish in less than a week.
Monthly payment plans and scholarships available.
-
The students in our Jam Bands program meet together over the course of 1 week and are cast into multiple bands allowing them to work with a variety of other students. With the help of professional musician coaches, songs are assigned to help with their musical growth throughout the camp. They focus on developing stage presence, group dynamics, and emotional investment in the music.
The camp also includes master classes where students can learn from guest artists and instructors.
-
On Monday through Thursday, rehearsals will make up the bulk of the day. We'll cycle through one rehearsal per band/song, with a lunch period to break up the day. The remaining time on these days will be filled, depending on the day, with get-to-know-you activities, guest artist clinics, and instrument-specific workshops.
On Fridays, we run a dress rehearsal to give the kids a chance to experience the stage before performing. We'll generally run through the entire show twice.
-
This program is designed to augment and amplify the experience of individual instruction, but cannot replace the indivual attention to skill-buidling that would be provided by a private teacher. Because of this, students need to have private lessons, whether through AMP or with a private teacher. What this program provides is valuable insight in the skills needed to play with other musicians, and essential motivation to power the process of personal practice.
-
While various skill levels are welcomed, students should have at minimum a beginning facility on their instrument, and know how to learn songs. We recommend that brand-new players start with private lessons and join the program when they have a handful of songs under their fingers. Students must have their own instrument throughout the program to practice on (AMP can provide loaner instruments, where needed.)
Please note: We have a set minimum number of registered students we will need to make the program feasible. In the event that not enough students register , we will refund any registration fees and cancel the session.
*All stated fees include a service fee for credit/debit card transactions. This fee is waived when tuition is paid via ACH direct bank transfer. See registration page for details.
